Bristol Van & Courier Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 22 September 2026
1. About These Terms
These Terms & Conditions apply to courier services provided by Paul Rogers, trading as Bristol Van & Courier (“BVC”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
By accepting a quotation and confirming a booking with BVC, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and the specific arrangements agreed for your delivery.
These terms apply to both individual and business customers. Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude or restrict any rights that consumers have under applicable law.
2. Our Courier Services
BVC provides courier and delivery services for individuals and businesses, including:
-
Local courier services.
-
Same day and next day courier services.
-
Nationwide courier services.
-
Business and multi-drop deliveries.
-
Furniture, marketplace and larger-item deliveries.
All bookings are subject to availability, vehicle suitability, the nature of the goods and the agreed collection and delivery requirements. We may decline a booking where the goods, route, timing or requirements are unsuitable for our service.
3. Quotes and Pricing
Quotes are prepared using the information supplied by the customer, including collection and delivery locations, item details, dimensions, weight, quantity, access arrangements and timing requirements.
A quotation will set out the price and any relevant conditions known at the time it is issued.
Quotes are based on the information provided. If the details change, including the size, weight, number of items, addresses or delivery requirements, we may need to revise the quotation.
Any revised price will be communicated for agreement before proceeding with the additional or changed work.
Unless otherwise stated, a quotation is not a confirmed booking. A booking is confirmed when BVC accepts the request and communicates the agreed arrangements.
4. Bookings and Customer Information
Customers are responsible for providing accurate and complete information when requesting a quote or making a booking.
This includes:
-
Correct collection and delivery addresses.
-
Accurate contact details for relevant parties.
-
A reasonable description of the goods.
-
Approximate dimensions, weight and quantity.
-
Relevant access restrictions, handling requirements or timing arrangements.
Customers should inform BVC as soon as possible of any changes to the agreed booking.
We cannot guarantee that changes can be accommodated, particularly once a collection or delivery is underway.
5. Collections and Deliveries
BVC will make reasonable efforts to collect and deliver goods in accordance with the arrangements agreed at the time of booking.
Collection and delivery times may be affected by traffic, weather, road closures, access restrictions, delays at collection or delivery points, vehicle issues and other circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
Where a significant delay or issue arises, we will make reasonable efforts to inform the customer and discuss available options.
Customers should ensure goods are ready for collection and that suitable access is available at the agreed location.
6. Packaging and Suitability of Goods
Customers are responsible for ensuring that goods are appropriately packaged, secured and ready for transport, unless alternative arrangements have been expressly agreed with BVC.
Goods must be suitable for transportation in the vehicle being used and must not present an unreasonable risk to people, property, the vehicle or other goods.
Customers must disclose any fragile, unusually heavy, awkward, hazardous or special-handling items before confirming a booking.
BVC may decline to transport goods that are inadequately packaged, unsafe, unlawful or unsuitable for the agreed service.
7. Restricted and Prohibited Goods
Customers must not request the transport of illegal, prohibited or unsafe goods.
Customers are responsible for accurately disclosing the nature of the goods before a booking is accepted.
If goods are found to be prohibited, unsafe or materially different from the description provided, BVC may decline or suspend the delivery and discuss appropriate next steps with the customer.
Any reasonable additional costs arising from inaccurate or incomplete information will be discussed with the customer before being charged, where practicable.
8. Waiting Time, Access and Failed Collections
Customers should ensure that goods are ready for collection and that the collection or delivery location is accessible at the agreed time.
A waiting period of up to 20 minutes is allowed at a collection or delivery point.
Waiting time exceeding 20 minutes is charged at £30 per hour, or part thereof.
This charge may apply where delays arise because goods are not ready, the relevant contact is unavailable, access is restricted or other circumstances prevent the agreed collection or delivery from proceeding.
Where a collection or delivery cannot be completed, BVC will contact the customer to discuss the available options.
Any additional waiting, repeat collection, redelivery or return-journey charges will be communicated and agreed where applicable before additional work is undertaken, where practicable.
9. Payment Terms
The agreed price and payment arrangements will be confirmed before the booking proceeds.
For individual customers, payment may be made:
-
In advance.
-
At collection.
BVC accepts contactless card payments. Other payment arrangements may be agreed in advance.
Business customers may be offered invoicing where agreed. Any applicable invoice payment terms and due date will be stated on the invoice or otherwise agreed before the booking proceeds.
Customers are responsible for paying the agreed charges in accordance with the confirmed payment arrangements.
If a customer disputes an invoice, they should contact BVC promptly and explain the issue so it can be reviewed.
10. Cancellations
If you need to cancel or amend a booking, please contact BVC as soon as possible.
A £25 administration fee may apply where a customer cancels a confirmed booking less than 24 hours before the agreed collection time.
This fee is intended to reflect the administration and operational costs associated with late cancellations. Its application will depend on the circumstances and applicable law.
Where a cancellation charge applies, it will be communicated to the customer. Nothing in this section affects any cancellation or refund rights that consumers may have under applicable law.
If BVC needs to cancel a booking, we will inform the customer as soon as reasonably practicable and discuss any appropriate refund or alternative arrangements.
11. Redelivery
If a delivery cannot be completed due to circumstances such as an unavailable recipient, incorrect delivery details, restricted access or other issues preventing completion, BVC will contact the customer to discuss the available options.
Where redelivery is requested or required, an additional charge may apply.
Redelivery charges depend on the location, journey, availability and circumstances. A redelivery charge may be up to 100% of the original delivery charge.
Any applicable redelivery charge will be explained and agreed with the customer before redelivery is arranged.
12. Goods in Transit Insurance and Liability
BVC holds goods-in-transit insurance with cover up to a value of £10,000, subject to the terms, conditions, exclusions, excesses and limits of the applicable insurance policy.
The £10,000 figure is not a guarantee that every item or every type of loss is covered for its full value.
Customers should contact BVC before booking if they require clarification about insurance cover for their goods, particularly where items are valuable, fragile, unusual or subject to special requirements.
BVC will take reasonable care when handling and transporting goods.
If goods are lost or damaged, customers should notify BVC as soon as reasonably possible and provide relevant details and supporting information.
Any liability arising from loss, damage or delay will be assessed in accordance with applicable law, the circumstances of the delivery and any valid contractual or insurance provisions applying to the booking.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
13. Delays and Circumstances Beyond Our Control
BVC will make reasonable efforts to complete agreed deliveries.
However, events outside our reasonable control, including severe weather, road closures, accidents, unexpected vehicle breakdowns or other significant disruptions, may affect the service.
Where such circumstances arise, we will make reasonable efforts to communicate with the customer and discuss an appropriate solution.
This section does not remove any rights or remedies available to consumers under applicable law.
14. Complaints
If you have a concern about a quote, booking, collection, delivery or payment, please contact BVC as soon as possible.
We will review the details and make reasonable efforts to resolve the issue.
Please provide your booking details and a clear description of the concern so we can investigate it.
15. Privacy and Personal Information
BVC handles personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy.
Customer information is used where necessary to provide quotations, arrange bookings, carry out deliveries, communicate with relevant parties and meet applicable legal obligations.
Our Privacy Policy is available on the BVC website.
16. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply.
Where a customer is a consumer, they may also have rights to bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the UK in which they live, where applicable.
